Tennis – The MPS team, Lauren Appleby, Georgina Quinlan, Sophie Rogers, Wallace Foreman, Aydan McGuire and Jeremy Blatchford played Gunnedah South Public School in the PSSA knockout. This was a most enjoyable day with all team members playing well - 3 sets (MPS) to 5 sets (Gunnedah Sth) and most importantly displaying excellent sportsmanship against a strong team. In addition, we congratulate Lauren Appleby who recently travelled to Albury as a No.2 player for the north west tennis team, contesting the PSSA state carnival. Lauren joined nine students from Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Guyra to represent our region, with the team coming home with a most creditable 9 th placing in the tournament. The team won four matches and lost four with Lauren winning four matches in the singles. Lauren enjoyed the experience and was thrilled to meet recently retired Australian tennis star, Sam Groth who gave some excellent advice about training, playing on the courts whenever possible and always to try your hardest.
