Congratulations to the students who have participated in the recent school round of the state-wide competition. There is no doubt that each of the entrants spoke clearly and with conviction in presenting their prepared speeches - they shared such positive messages and optimism about living in an inclusive and multicultural Australia. Speakers had a range of unique messages – retelling their family's story; explaining that games bring us together; outlining the values that unite and define us as Australians; the part that media plays in keeping us and our world connected; and dreams for a harmonious world. Following the prepared speeches, each speaker had five minutes to prepare an impromptu speech – an extremely difficult task but one which the students accomplished well. The Years 3/4 topic, Man's best friend and the Years 5/6 topic, Participating is more important that winning, led to some very interesting and inspiring words of wisdom. Fantastic presentations and congratulations! Chloe Elbourne (Unity in diversity), Harriet Beattie (Living between cultures), Isabelle Kelly (What makes an Australian), and Edward Beattie (Belonging) will now compete at Ross Hill Public School on Wednesday, 27th August.
