Reconciliation week was an opportunity for MPS staff to join with parents and community members at the morning tea held last Tuesday. We welcomed many of our Aboriginal Elders, parents and friends, enjoying a chat over morning tea. I am delighted to say, the visitors left with a very positive impression of our school, our students and our staff. On Friday evening, a group of staff, parents and students attended the Moree Reconciliation Week Awards ceremony. These awards recognise individuals, businesses, community organisations and initiatives that are advancing reconciliation and respectful relationships in Moree. We are very proud of the students who were award nominees. Congratulations to Milos Stanojevic, Ben DiDonna, Chloe Elbourne, Chaz Noble and Talara Munro for being recognised at the awards ceremony - well done! Our congratulations go to all recipients and to the Moree Reconciliation Committee for their organisation of an extremely significant ceremony. This year’s guest speaker was Ms Karla Ranby, a former MPS and Carol Ave High School student who went on to study journalism at university and now works at Triple J as both the weekend lunch presenter and music producer. Karla shared a little of her personal life journey to reflect how conditions have changed through hard work and resilience of so many Aboriginal families, both past and present.
