Debating

Microphone lectern

Debating is an exciting way to have a friendly argument and last Friday our two teams did not disappoint! MPS Gwydir, Sophie Rogers, Harriet Beattie, Phoebe Tydd and Chloe Elbourne debated for the affirmative: That parents should pay their children to do tasks around the house. Moree was awarded this debate with the adjudicator commenting the speakers were confident in their line of argument, presented some strong rebuttals to the oppositions argument that there is more to life than money!

The MPS Mehi team, Camilla Johnston, Lucy Kilner, Emily Kerr and Cheryl Lousick also won the toss to debate the affirmative, That all classrooms should have a dog or a cat as a pet. Despite some excellent ideas about helping to give homeless pets a nice home, Bingara was able to counter this argument with ideas that pets can be rather unpredictable and could pose a real danger to the students! Bingara was awarded this debate.
